(2) Tourism in China: Impacts, Issues and Problems of a Domestic Travel Boom
Joint sponsored session by the AAG Recreation, Tourism and Sport Specialty Group and the AAG China Specialty Group.
China is one of the leading international tourism destinations in the world. International tourists, however, comprise only a very small percentage of overall tourism in the country. Most of China's tourism development is driven much more by domestic tourism, as domestic tourists have fanned out across the country and overrun China's major tourist attractions.
This session invites paper discussing the geographic impacts and issues related to domestic tourism in China.
Session organizers: Rudi Hartmann, University of Colorado Denver <rudi.hartmann@ucdenver.edu>, Alan A. Lew, Northern Arizona University <Alan.Lew@nau.edu>, and Li Yang, Western Michigan University <li.1.yang@wmich.edu>
